Brief Bio

Dr. Mostafizur Rahaman is a Research Scientist at the Quantum Division, IBM Research. His research interests are primarily on quantum computing algorithms and applications on near-term quantum hardware. He has authored 20+ peer-reviewed publications and patents as primary contributor, with work appearing in leading venues including Nature and IEEE Transactions. He received the Distinguished Research Paper Award from IBM Research in 2024, across all divisions.

He is a Visiting Scientist at the Quantum Information Physics Theory Group, RIKEN, Japan. He also serves as a Visiting Fellow in the Dept. of ECE, IISc, Bangalore, and an Adjunct Faculty at S N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata.

Dr. Rahaman earned his MS (in statistical signal processing) and PhD (in quantum optimization) from IIT Kharagpur as a Prime Minister's Research Fellow, where he received national commendations for doctoral research.

Currently, he serves as a mentor and industry expert associated with the National Quantum Mission to support and enable the India and APAC quantum ecosystem.
